Think you know Daria Kolosova? You probably don’t. Although she’s definitely a techno DJ, the Ukrainian artist has a chameleon-like ability to adapt to wherever she’s playing. Hard, groovy techno is the foundation of her sound, but she’s equally comfortable playing crisp electro and breakbeats - and maybe even a bit of jungle - or smoothing things out with acid and trance.
Partly that’s because she’s such a committed student of dance music history; as she’s said in interviews, you can’t just play the music, you have to read the books, watch the documentaries and learn about where it all came from. Her own passion for electronic music started aged just nine, when flicking through her dad’s collection, she came across The Prodigy’s ‘Diesel Power’. She DJed extensively throughout her teens, and was soon promoting her own parties, first in regional capital Luhansk, and later in Kiev, as the Ukrainian scene blossomed in the pre-war years.
Now based in Berlin, she’s slowly but surely become one of the most dependable and adaptable DJs around. Whatever version of Daria Kolosova we get at Sónar 2026, we’re sure you’ll be delighted.
