Few DJs radiate joy the way that Kilopatrah Jones does. Born in Queens, New York City, and raised on the dancefloor, they understand dance music in a way that only marginalised people truly can. It’s not just a darkened dancefloor, or an abandoned warehouse, or a pair of speakers set up someone’s backyard: it’s a space for radical joy, personal expression and above all, wordless human connection.
That’s why every ‘Kilo’ set feels personal, whether she’s digging through her crates of euphoric diva house and classic cuts from New York’s golden age, or throwing in a touch of techno - or even a dash of drum’n’bass. A longtime house dancer, she now plays for everyone on the floor: the club kids hugging the speakers at front left, the dolls going buckwild in the middle, and the shy dancers hovering around the edges.
Following in the footsteps of her mentor Dee Diggs - who closed Sónar 2025 with Ultra Naté - she’s making her debut this year for a set that promises to be what she poetically calls ‘liberation in motion’.
