Chano Domínguez & Bronquio present ‘Calle Barcelona’

Celebrated flamenco-jazz pianist Chano Domínguez and innovative producer Bronquio join forces for Taller de Músics' new production ‘Calle Barcelona’, a reference to the street in Algeciras where Paco de Lucía lived as a child. They’re bringing the sounds of one of contemporary music’s greatest figures to Sónar with a sonic journey that transforms and reinvents the roots of flamenco and explores new textures and rhythms using electronics.

Together with David Leiva, guitarist and official transcriber of Paco de Lucía, and a new generation of artists from the Taller de Músics, with Irene Ribas on vocals, Pol Garcia on trumpet and Joaquín de la Cruz on drums and percussion, they have created a band recreates the work of the brilliant guitarist with every chord and every beat. Tracks like ‘Solo quiero Caminar’, ‘Zyryab’, ‘Almoraima’ or ‘Entre dos aguas’ are the basis for sustained improvised and electronic sequences, which also incorporate a significant amount of newly created material. This is a live performance by a band where every note played has a hidden depth.

‘Calle Barcelona' is an initiative of Taller de Músics in collaboration with Sónar and the SGAE Foundation and with support from the Paco de Lucía Foundation.
