Just like class, good house music never goes out of style. That’s why we’ve tapped Brooklyn artist Dee Diggs for SonarMix ahead of a dual debut at Sónar this year. Get into the groove ahead of her appearance at Sónar Lisboa in April and an extremely special intergenerational back-to-back with bonafide ‘90s house diva Ultra Naté in June at Sónar by Night.
Born in 1994, in the midst of house music’s golden era, Dee is an unapologetic advocate of the genre’s black and queer roots. It makes sense that SonarMix 059 acts as a history lesson, with generous helpings of vocal house from the ‘90s to the present day alongside deep grooves, fresh edits and soulful club tracks.
Like all of Dee’s sessions it’s equal parts spiritual and celebratory, a tribute to the black pioneers of house music with a fresh, forward-facing twist. As she tells us at the start: “My name is Dee Diggs… and here is what you came for.”
